About Professor Sourangshu Mukhopadhyay:
Professor Sourangshu Mukhopadhyay obtained M.Sc. (Tech.) and Ph. D. (Tech) degrees from The University of Calcutta.He is currently functioning as Vice-Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi University, Mahishadal, Purba Medinipur West Bangal, India and Professor (in Lien) of Physics in The University of Burdwan. He was former Head of the Department of Physics of The University of Burdwan, former Head of the Department of Physics, in Vidyasagar University, Founder Head/ Incharge of the Department of Electronics, Vidyasagar University, and former Head /Incharge of the Department of Computer Science, Vidyasagar University. Currently he has served also as Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell, The University of Burdwan, for two consecutive terms and Director, Centre for Distance and Online Education,The University of Burdwan for two terms. He has functioned as Director, UGC- Madan Mahan Malaviya Teachers Training Centre, The University of Burdwan. Under His active leadership the Department of Physics of The University of Burdwan, was recognized as Centre for Advance Study (CAS) from UGC, Government of India and received the FIST project from DST, Government of India. His Research area is Photonics. In this area he along with his groups has contributed more than 700 research papers in international / national standard journals and conferences. Professor Sourangshu Mukhopadhyay has delivered numerous invited talks in National/International Conferences and Seminars. He functioned as Resource persons in many Refresher Courses for College and University teachers. He has served as Coordinators and Principal Investigators of some research projects of reputed concerns. He has already supervised 33 Ph.D. scholars who have received Ph. D degrees working under his direct guidance and currently he is guiding six more scholars. He has authored two books in the area of Optical computation and parallel processing and received some awards. He is a life member and member of several recognized academic and professional bodies and societies. He was Founder Editor in Chief of ‘Vidyasagar University Journal of Physical Sciences’. He is an Editorial Board Member of “Journal of Optics” (Springer). He has served as experts in numerous selection committees and in other areas. He has functioned as coordinators of many refresher courses for college and university teachers. He has received many awards including the prestigious IETE (CEOT) award in 2018. The Google scholar h-index of Professor Mukhopadhyay is 31 and Scopus h-index is 27. Name of Professor Sourangshu Mukhopadhyay is included in World 2% list of scientists prepared by Stanford University.
